MIME 212 Engineering Thermodynamics

Duties: Preparation and leading of tutorials, assistance in preparation of midterm and final exams.

Requirements: Requires good knowledge of thermodynamics (both theory and practice),public speaking ability, good communication skills. Must have previously taken this course or equivalent and preferably have been a teaching assistant for this course. Past TA duties must include marking and tutoring.

MIME 260 Materials Science and Engineering

MIME 311 Modelling and Automatic Control

Requirements: Must have taken a similar control course and be familiar with its overall objectives, as well as the full mathematical formalism of Laplace transforms and transfer functions. Should have experience good with Matlab. Should have previously taken this course and/or have previously been a teaching assistant for this course. Past TA duties must include tutoring. Requires public speaking ability. Open only to graduate students with a background in computer-aided modeling and/or those who have previously taken the course as an undergraduate at ºÚÁÏÉç.

MIME 341 Introduction to Mineral Processing

MIME 452 Process and Materials Design

Instructor: Sidney Omelon

TA - Tutoring/Marking/Other: 3 at 67 hrs each

Duties: Responsible for giving process and materials design advice and technical writing feedback to more than one student group. Responsible for giving constructive technical writing and content feedback on five design reports that include defining a engineering design basis, the creation and evaluation of many design options, and the selection and estimation of one design option. Process estimation includes process design, mass and energy balance calculations, capital and operating cost estimates, financial analysis, and societal and environmental impacts. Responsible for giving detailed technical writing feedback and updating grades on myCourses. Responsible for meeting with and guiding student groups. Responsible for grading one quiz on the subject of mass and energy balances.

Requirements: Must have previously taken this course, equivalent courses or equivalent industry experience, and preferably have been a teaching assistant for this course. Past TA duties must include marking, technical writing feedback and grading, mass and energy balance work, process design, and experience working with myCourses.

MIME 455 Advanced Process Engineering

Instructor: Roderick I.L. Guthrie

TA – Tutoring/Other: 1 at 80 hrs

Duties: Preparation and leading of tutorials.

Requirements: Must be specialized in the field of transport phenomena with particular emphasis on heat and mass transfer, a working knowledge of exact and approximate solutions to partial differential equations. Computing skills with emphasis on programming in FORTRAN and other high-level languages. Knowledge of both the implicit and explicit finite difference schemes to solve different equations is essential. Must have previously taken this course or equivalent. Must have preferably been a teaching assistant for this course. Past TA duties must include supervision of students, tutoring, leading tutorials.

MIME 456 Steelmaking and Steel Processing

Duties: Provide technical support in tutorials to help students resolve issues when running computer simulations in Windows, Mac or Linux environments. Grading of course related assignments. Invigilation of midterm.

Requirements: Requires public speaking ability. Open to Computer-aided Modeling graduate students only who have previously taken MIME 573 and preferably have been a teaching assistant for MIME 573. Past TA duties must include demonstration and tech support.

MIME 559 Aluminum Physical Metallurgy

Instructor: Mihriban O. Pekguleryuz

TA - Demoing/Tutoring/Other: 1 at 70 hrs

Duties: Help with thermodynamic simulations for alloy design and grading assistance with term assignment and term quiz.

Requirements: Must have proficiency in performing FactSage thermodynamic calculations. Having taken this course (or equivalent) previously or having worked with thermodynamic alloy simulations is an asset.

MIME 572 Computational Thermodynamics

Duties: Providing technical and theoretical support to students during their personal computational thermodynamics project. Attend and grade student presentations. Attend and grade student oral exam.
